Leslie Smalygo and Gus Keep the Fire Burning with a Round Win in Puyallup

Leslie Smalygo and her horse Gus hustled to the Round 2 win of the Cinch Playoffs with a time of 13.82 seconds.

With a horse that came off the track and is not the biggest fan of small pen setups, Smalygo attributes part of her success to the fans of Puyallup.

“I think it’s the crowd, he just feeds off it. I didn’t even think he was going to run good... he was about half asleep back there,” she said.

Smalygo is sitting No. 16 in the WPRA World Standings and clinching a round win check on a million dollar weekend from Puyallup is just what she needed. Her time on two is 27.72 putting her just two tenths behind Shelley Morgan in the average and we will see Smalygo and Gus again in the Eight-Man Round on Sunday afternoon.
