Junior Patrik Souza wins PBR event on Sunday after flying from Texas

Junior Patrik Souza made the most of his opportunity to compete at the PBR’s Unleash the Beast event on Sunday by going 2-for-2 to win the day and earn 109 world points.

Souza was in Cedar Park, Texas at the lower-level Velocity Tour event before getting the call to fill in for the injured Jose Vitor Leme. Souza, a fellow Brazilian, hopped on a plane, and then rode Slingin’ Tears for 86 points and Homegrown for 88.25 points to cinch Sunday’s victory.

Under a new format in the PBR there will be two champions a weekend, one for each day, an an overall event champion. Souza was named the champion of Sunday by accumulating the most total points. () won Saturday and was named the event champion by accumulating the most world points over the two days of competition.

Silvana Alves, Keyshawn Whitehorse, Cole Melancon and Joao Ricardo Vieria rounded out Sunday’s Top 5.
