After suffering a scary wreck in Round 2 on Friday, JB Mauney has cleared concussion protocol will compete in Round 3 of the Wrangler NFR tonight.

Mauney’s hand got caught in his bull rope and he was eventually able to get free, but not before taking multiple horns to the face from Rafter G’s Johnny Thunder. Mauney was briefly down on the dirt before getting to his feet and being assisted out of the arena to a standing ovation. He was treated for the facial lacerations on sight Friday night and passed his additional concussion testing on Saturday morning.

“Got a little western last night,” Mauney wrote on Instagram. “Thanks to three of the best (bullfighters Dusty Tuckness, Nathan Harp and Cody Webster) for saving my ass.”

Mauney was marked 87.5 points Cocktail Diarrhea in Round 1 to split the win with Ky Hamilton.
