In Dodge City with Barrel Racer Emily Miller

While in Dodge City, Amy Wilson catches up with Emily Miller before her second run at the Roundup Rodeo. In the slack, she ran a 16.95 — which marked a meaningful milestone for the barrel racer.

“That was actually one of my biggest goals for the summer,” Miller says. “I’d never run a 16 on a standard, a clean one … and for it to be here at Dodge City — you know, I grew up just 40 miles from here — it was pretty special. It actually brought me to tears.”

The year of 2000 came with lessons on the mental and physical game of rodeo that Luke Branquinho never forgot.
