The inaugural Oklahoma’s Richest, a standalone roping event produced by Chris Neal of Rising Star Events, was held October 16-18 at the Lazy E Arena, where tie-down and breakaway ropers of all ages and levels were invited to compete for big money. The breakaway ropers were also given the chance to qualify for Jackie Crawford’s Rope for the Crown, while the youth contestants had a shot at the Junior American and Tuf Cooper’s Junior World Championships.
But the main attraction of the weekend were the two celebrity matchups.
The first was a showdown between No. 1 in the PRCA World Standings Shad Mayfield and reigning World Champion Haven Meged, who battled it out on a 10-head average. The second pitted 19X WPRA World Champion Jackie Crawford against fan favorite Shelby Boisjoli.
In the end, it was Meged and Boisjoli who walked away victorious — with bragging rights and $5,000 in prize money.
