She’s known for her work as a producer, actress, author, businesswoman, and humanitarian. But, first and foremost, she’s a singer-songwriter — and an iconic one at that.
Dolly Parton’s career in country spans four decades, during which she’s composed more than 3,000 songs, including unforgettable classics such as “9 to 5,” “Jolene,” and “Coat of Many Colors.” She’s earned 25 Recording Industry Association of America gold, platinum, and multi-platinum awards. She’s had a record-number 25 songs reach No. 1 on the Billboard country music charts. She’s acquired nine Grammy Awards, two Academy Award nominations, ten Country Music Association Awards, seven Academy of Country Music Awards, three American Music Awards, and the prestigious Country Music Association‘s Entertainer of the Year Award. In 1999, she was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Today, Dolly turned 75, and, appropriately, fans everywhere shared birthday wishes and tributes to the country music queen.
