Dona Kay Rule Wins a Fast Barrel Race in San Antonio Bracket 3, Round 2

Dona Kay Rule was one of three cowgirls to have a run of faster than 14 seconds in San Antonio on Tuesday night.

Rule stopped the clock at 13.94 seconds, barely beating fellow 2021 NFR qualifiers Emily Beisel (13.97) and Shelley Morgan (13.98).

“He (her horse Valor) felt really good tonight, I failed him last night and by God, I wasn’t going to fail him tonight,” Rule said.

Through two performances in Bracket 3, Beisel is first with $4,000 and Morgan and Rule are tied for second at $2,500. Four athletes in each bracket advance to the Semifinals.

Before Tuesday, there had only been one run faster than 14 seconds in the first seven performances of the rodeo.
