RFD-TV and Mutual of Omaha Co-Sponsor Float in 134th Rose Parade

December 30, 2022 -- Pasadena, California – RFD-TV announced today its broadcast schedule for the 134th Tournament of Roses Parade presented by Honda and partnership with Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild themed float. In keeping with the Tournament’s “Never on Sunday” tradition kept since 1893, the first year the Rose Parade fell on a Sunday, this year’s parade will occur the day after New Year’s Day. The 134th Rose Parade begins at 8 am PST on January 2, 2023, and this year’s theme is “Turning the Corner,” celebrating the unlimited potential that each new year brings. RFD-TV’s broadcast will feature limited commercial interruptions and be simulcast on The Cowboy Channel.

And for the second consecutive year, RFD-TV has joined forces with Mutual of Omaha to sponsor a float in the 134th Rose Parade to celebrate the launch of new Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild episodes coming to RFD-TV starting January 2, 2023, at 1 pm ET, immediately following the Rose Parade broadcast. New episodes will continue to premiere Friday nights at 8 pm ET.

The 55-foot float entry titled Protecting the Wild pays tribute to the new television series that features conservation success stories of some of the nation’s most endangered species. The float celebrates two bear cub brothers released back into the wild after being injured and rehabilitated following a wildfire. The bear cubs are portrayed in their Pacific Northwest home with multiple furry friends, including black-footed ferrets, beavers, wolves, and a mountain lion perched on a floral cover rock shelf. A cascading waterfall is then surrounded by two towering 23-foot-high Ponderosa pine trees that play host to visiting California condors. Seated on the float is Wild Kingdom tv show host Peter Gros. These same bear cubs are also highlighted in the first episode of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom’s Protecting the Wild new series.

Broadcast Schedule for January 2, 2023:

8am ET – Equestfest

Watch the Tournament of Roses Equestfest, a special event held at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center where the 134th Rose Parade’s equestrian units showcase their breeds and demonstrate their talent with performances.

10am ET – Rose Parade Pre-Show

11am ET – 134th Tournament of Roses presented by Honda

Live coverage of the 134th Tournament of Rose Parade in Pasadena, California, with television hosts Pam Minick and Christina Loren. 1pm ET – Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild Series Premiere

A wildfire in Washington state drove animals across the region out of their habitat. Among them were two black bear cubs rescued by PAWS Rescue Center in Lynnwood, Washington. The cubs, which were barely able to walk and suffered second-degree burns and respiratory issues, were rehabilitated at PAWS and were released back into the wild.
