Chad Rutherford Takes Home His First Lea County Championship Title

Chad Rutherford is the Lea County Bareback Riding Champing after making an outstanding ride of 88 points on Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s Redzilla.

“That sucker’s all there he’s a great horse, I’ve been excited all week to come here and get on him. It’s about time I won this rodeo,” Rutherford said.

Rutherford was 88 points to win the one-head rodeo and the Top 5 was made up of five NFR qualifiers from 2021. Tanner Aus was second with 87, Garrett Shadbolt third, R.C. Landingham fourth and Caleb Bennett fifth. All five were marked 85 or more.

Rutherford is currently sitting at No. 13 in the PRCA World Standings after securing $4,548 for his win in New Mexico.
