Catching up with JJ Hampton on Night 2 at the Reno Rodeo

On Night 2 at the Reno Rodeo, 17X World Champion breakaway roper JJ Hampton had the crowd on their feet when she stopped the clock at 2 seconds flat — the fastest time of the night and of the rodeo so far.

Earlier that morning in slack, JJ roped in 2.7 seconds and is now leading in the average on two by more than a full second.

JJ says she is honored and excited to get the chance to compete in Reno.

“For me to get to rope, and in front of this great crowd, it’s really special ... I just want to thank the committee for stepping up and having breakaway and adding us to the perf. What an amazing event for women, and the young women who are going to come rope after me, I mean this is phenomenal.”
