Caleb Smidt took the Calgary Stampede title after a solid 7.5-second run during the Championship Showdown.
Smidt made a horse change while his trustee equine partner, Pockets, was in the states, he opted to ride Logan Bird’s Peso on Championship Sunday.
“[Peso] just gives me a chance every time and I couldn’t ask to ride a better horse today,” he said.
Smidt was not expecting to win but he said that God’s blessed him everyday to be able to compete at this level.
