Brittney Barnett’s Cinderella Story

Barrel racer Brittney Barnett qualified for the NFR in the final hour, sneaking into the Top 15 at No. 15 at the end of the season.

After a grueling season of travel to rodeo after rodeo, she’s heading to her first NFR — thanks to hard work and her horse Paint, a 13-year-old trail paint horse and unexpected contender.

“She is the size of the Pony,” says Brittney with a laugh. “Everyone always makes fun of her because she is so small. If you look at her riding around, or in the warmup pen or something, you wouldn’t think she could go out there in the arena and do what she does.”

Brittney talks about their successful winter, the time off, and their strategy following the shutdown.
