Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi holds two World Titles and has claimed victory at almost every major rodeo possible and she now adds The Calgary Stampede to her long list of achievements.
“In the 19 years I’ve been coming to this rodeo, dreams finally do come true,” she said.
Tonozzi and her equine partner Benny gave it all they had in Pool C as the team claimed the No. 1 spot in both Rounds 1 and 2 to secure their spot in Championship Sunday.
“I couldn’t have done this without Benny, I mean he’s just amazing, he’s an incredible horse.”
Tonozzi entered into the Short-Go with $16,000 in earnings and her eyes on the bronze statue as she laid down a 17.39-second run to advance into the four-man round.
A 17.11 on the clock locked in the win for Tonozzi as she secured The Calgary Stampede Championship Title and the highly coveted $50,000. She entered Calgary No. 3 in the WPRA Barrel Racing World Standings and could be No. 1 once the money from this weekend is all counted.
Lisa Lockhart finished second, Emily Beisel was third and rookie Taycie Matthews took fourth.
