Best Moments of 2021: Marty Yates wins Short Round in Cheyenne

The Short Go in Cheyenne is something every cowboy dreams of and Marty Yates captured the title in the tie-down in 2021.

In a Go-Round full of gunslingers, Yates set the mark at 10.3 seconds as the first out and no one was able to catch him. The only other cowboys faster than 12 seconds were Craig Leonard (11.0), Ty Harris (11.3) and Rhen Richard (11.7). Yates was 11.3 on his first run and 12.8 in his semifinal.

“It was a great run for me, when it comes down to these one-run finals it can always go either way,” Yates told ProRodeo.com. “You can either put the pressure on them or make a so-so run and get beat. It worked out great for me today, I’m just glad to finally have another good horse under me and be back headed in the right direction this season.”

Yates won a total of $19,882 at the Daddy of ‘em All in 2021 and it was his second victory there, the other came in 2015.
