Barrel Racer Katelyn Scott Set The Pace in a Big Way in Calgary Stampede, Pool B

Katelyn Scott was the first cowgirl out and nobody would beat her.

Katelyn Scott and her horse are both Calgary Stampede rookies and their first run at the greatest outdoor show on earth is one that will not forget.

The duo was first out and they set the pace at 17.12 to get the Round 1 win by over one tenth of a second.

“Honestly, it was a privilege for me to be first because I didn’t have time to think about it, I just had to get ready and I was just excited to be here,” Scott said.

This is huge win for Scott and her young horse who has stepped up in a huge way. Their experience in Calgary has been one that Scott says makes her glad they had a qualifier in the States so she could get there.

Scott added $7,000 to her name with Taycie Matthews and Paige Jones each earning $5,000 as they go into Round 2.
