Emily Beisel called on Liza in Round 1 of the Calgary Stampede, but it was Chongo who would find his stride in the iconic arena. Round 2 brought the duo a third-place payday before they shattered the arena record in Round 3.
“That horse is incredible. I mean, he loves Calgary. We didn’t have the best practice the first day, and I’m not going to put him in unless I know he can go win. So, we needed another day to regroup. He was ready to rumble, he was awesome the last two nights,” Beisel said.
While Beisel only held the record for five runs, the time of 16.84 set a pace that was hard to beat.
Anita Ellis would clock a 16.79 to sweep Pool A and advance as the No. 1 cowgirl ahead of Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi and Beisel.
