Cheyenne Allen ran the fastest time of the entire Horse Heaven Roundup by two tenths of a second during Round 1 when she stopped the clock at 16.91 seconds. She went on the Final Round where she was a 17.58 which brought her to 34.5 seconds on two runs and made her the 2022 Barrel Racing Champion in Kennewick.
Allen summed up her feelings with one word: shocked.
“When he ran a five and everybody else was so much faster, I thought I’m going to go put my horse away, I did not do it. And then I saw this little girl come running up to me and said you won it. I said you’re kidding me... but I am very thankful,” Allen said.
Allen is leading the Columbia River Circuit and the veteran barrel racer feels at home at the Horse Heaven Roundup.
