Bareback Rider Tanner Aus Moves on to Championship Sunday in Calgary

Tanner Aus was the first man out on Wildcard Saturday and he matched up with Vee Bar Nine to go 83.5 points. He remained the No. 1 guy in the Wildcard Round until Orin Larsen took his reride before the saddle bronc. Larsen went 87 points to bump Aus to No. 2. Fortunately, at the Calgary Stampede, they take two back from the Wildcard Round so Aus is in.

“I tried, that horse is strong and rapid, a great one to have today, obviously Wildcard Saturday. I was happy it was enough, you know, it’s a tough pen of horses, it’s kind of a money or mud day and 83.5 was good enough to make it in,” Aus said.

Vee Bar Nine lived up to its reputation and Aus had the inside scoop after watching a video of his traveling partner Ty Breuer’s ride on the horse from Caldwell, Idaho.

He might not have held on to the No. 1 spot but come Short Go time, it won’t matter. Aus is moving on to Championship Sunday going for another Calgary Stampede Championship.
