On Saturday night, bareback rider R.C. Landingham brought an inside look at the preparation going on behind the chutes.
Just moments before his ride, the No. 10 bareback rider in the World talked about how he assembles his injury prevention methods with the use of special elbow braces developed in Canada and sports tape. The technique is used to head off the risk of hyper-extending an elbow or wrist.
“It’s really important you know, we acquire injuries throughout the years and it’s really important to stay on top of those and keep your body moving as good as you can,” Landingham, 33, said. “There’s a lot of young guys coming up and if you want to be able to compete with them then you got to try and be as agile as they are.”
Good preparation is key and he showed that to be true when he rode for 87 pts on Rosser Rodeo’s Cowboy and Kids later that evening. Through four performances, he leads the Average in Reno with 173.5 points.
