A Look at the Bareback and Bronc Riding Leaders in Gunnison and Filer

Cole Reiner and Wyatt Bloom started Gunnison with a POW, topping the leaderboard on Night One in the bareback riding. Reiner, current No 14 in the World Standings, went 88 points on Pow Wow Nights to take the lead with Bloom, No. 18, just behind with an 87.5 on Pow Wow Rocks.

Following Perf 2, Reiner is now splitting first and second with Orin Larsen with Bloom in third.

Checks in Gunnison could be vital for both bareback riders as Reiner is hoping to keep a spot in the Top 15 and Bloom is fighting to get inside the bubble.

Shane O’Connell holds fourth in the bareback riding with 85.5 points, trailed by Tim O’Connell in fifth (85) and Pascal Isabelle in sixth (84.5).

In the saddle bronc riding, Cody DeMoss rode Stace Smith’s Pillow Talk for 86.5 points for the round win on night one in Gunnison. Ryder Wright then overtook the lead on night two, going 87.5 on Flashcard Champ, but DeMoss remains second overall — and like for Reiner and Bloom, every check is important for DeMoss this month, who’s currently No. 20 in the Standings, if he wants to get an NFR back number this year.

Trailing Wright and DeMoss are Jacobs Crawley in third with 86 points, Shorty Garrett in fourth (85), Spencer Wright fifth (84), and Wyatt Casper sixth (82).

At the Magic Valley Stampede in Filer, Idaho, the ride of the weekend so far has been that of Wade Sundell. The world champion bronc rider and fan favorite has been back full throttle after almost a year off recovering from injury, and in Filer, he had the stands roaring with his near flawless performance.

Sundell rode Sankey Pro Rodeo & Phenom Genetics’ Marquee for 90 points. He continues to hold a strong lead, followed by Kolby Wanchuk (85); Allen Boore, Chase Brooks, and Tegan Smith (83 each); and Jake Watson (81.5).

In the bareback, Filer is currently lead by 4X world champ and No. 1 man Kaycee Feild, who rode Sankey Pro Rodeo & Phenom Genetics’ Bronc Riding Nation for an 87.5, Tim O’Connell (86.5), Shane O’Connell and Clayton Biglow (85 each), Jesse Pope, (84.5), and Logan Patterson (84).
