What some people might not know about running barrels at the Thomas and Mack is that the ladies are completely blind to the first barrel. This plays a huge part for most in your preparation for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
No. 1 Barrel Racer in the world, Hailey Kinsel, keeps her preparation specific to each horse. Some horses just need to be kept in shape, she works with others on timing and some she even free’s up.
Jordan Briggs is No. 2 in the world and she is making her first trip back to the Thomas and Mack since 2009.
“I think my horse is a lot smarter than I am so I need more practice than he does,” said Briggs.
For her preparation, Briggs has been taking backup horses to smaller set ups and getting the muscle memory part of it down.
Performance No. 1 of the 2021 Wrangler NFR is December 2.
