Shane Hanchey and Marty Yates battled it out last year for a NFR Average title at the 2020 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Arlington, Texas. This year, Hanchey is sitting No. 1 and Yates is No. 9 in the World Standings going into Las Vegas.
The mental side of the sport is something both cowboys focus on. Hanchey compares calf roping to golf, he says he’s more of an average roper. Yates, on the other hand, takes it one run at a time and takes each calf for what it is.
Both Hanchey and Yates are ready for the NFR to be back in Las Vegas. Globe Life Field added to their confidence level but nothing compares to the bright lights of Las Vegas.
“It’s Vegas… I got chills down my spine, you know, I’m pumped to be back,” Yates said.
Hanchey and Yates have two different styles and both will light up the Thomas and Mack.
