This is Wyatt Casper’s first career NFR and if not for Ryder Wright, he would be one of the top storylines of the rodeo. Ryder has won four rounds at the NFR, but Casper has been able to keep the race close after coming into the NFR with a lead.
Casper went 88-points on Calgary Stampede’s Xena Warrior to win Round 9.
“That horse just felt like she was getting better and better every jump,” Casper said. “As the ride went on, I was getting a good seat and getting a good hold with my feet. It felt good.”
Heading into Round 10, Wright leads the world standings with $267,721 and Casper is second with $266,407.
Wright also leads the average over Casper as the only Cowboy to ride nine of nine broncs. Wright has an aggregate of 785.5 on nine head and Casper is in second with an average of 690.5 on eight head.
