It was a busy week in rodeo with San Angelo beginning and several other rodeos across the country taking place. Here are five fast facts from the week to help you get caught up.
1. 15 of Richmond Champion’s 17 rides this season have been marked 80 points or better including all five rides at RodeoHouston.
2. Ernie Courson and the state of Florida are getting along well. Courson has won four rodeos in Florida this year, most recently the Weekley Brothers Davie Pro Rodeo with an 84.5-point ride.
3. Luke Branquinho was recently announced as a 2023 Hall of Fame Inductee. Over the course of his incredible career, Branquinho made over $100,000 in every healthy season between 2001 and 2015.
4. Shane Hanchey has at least 25 runs of 8.5 seconds or faster in seven straight seasons, the longest such streak of any Tie-Down Roper.
5. Cody Wright will be joining Luke Branquinho in the 2023 Hall of Fame Class. Wright is the only Saddle Bronc Rider to compete at the NFR with two sons, Ryder and Rusty. He is also the only one to compete with three brothers at the NFR.
