Zeke Thurston Wins Round 9 and Inches Closer to Fourth World Title

Zeke Thurston is one ride away from winning his fourth Gold Buckle and second in as many years. He took Round 9 with an 88.5-point ride to increase his lead to $30,000. Thurston leads the average as well, and if he keeps his spot there he will win the world by over $50,000.

“It’s a great little horse of the Calgary Stampede but she is known to stall. I don’t like spending too much time in the chutes. She didn’t leave and they hit the buzzer. I smacked her in the belly and away we went.”

If Thurston rides tonight he will capture his second Gold Buckle in as many years and will take back-to-back average titles as well.
