SUMMARY IMAGE: STEVE WRUBEL PHOTOGRAPHY

A first time NFR qualifier this year, Jess Pope not only jumped from No. 11 to No. 3 in the PRCA World Standings but also won the average at his inaugural National Finals.

Throughout the 10 days, he placed in six rounds, winning Round 8 and coming in second behind World Champion Kaycee Feild in Round 10, and he finished out the year with $220,000 in earnings.

Looking back at some of his best rides at the NFR, Jesse talks about his first NFR experience, help he’s gotten from traveling partner Tim O’Connell, what he plans to do with the money won this year, and how it felt to win the NFR average.

“I was blessed to draw good all week. I had a great week, and I still don’t know that it’s set in all the way, that I won the average, but it was fun. I really enjoyed it; I loved it.”
