The Breakaway Roping is in its third year of getting fans on their feet and the competition keeps getting tougher. Young guns are giving multi-time World Champions a run for their money but the veteran ropers are holding on to the top spots in the world.
1. Erin Johnson, $50,249
Johnson’s most recent success came at Rodeo Houston when she was the only roper to make a clean run. This added $50,000 to her pocket and sent her right to the top of the World Standings. Johnson has been a part of history has she roped in the breakaway since it was added to the National Finals Rodeo in 2020. She ended 2021 ranked No. 5 in the world and her performance in Houston showed us why.
2. Kelsie Domer, $37,392
Domer raked in a big check when she won the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. During the rode, she stayed as consistent as they come until the Final Round. She threw the hammer down in the Finals to be 1.8 and cinch not only the championship but her spot at the top of the World Standings.
3. Martha Angelone, $29,122
Angelone’s 2022 season started off right with a check at the Texas Circuit Finals but she went on to hit the jackpot at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. Angelone made a 2.1 second run that earned her $6,000 in the Final Round alone.
