However, one of the hottest storylines this season is none other than Sue Smith as she cinched the coveted Cheyenne Frontier Days Title for the first time in her career. Meanwhile,the list of tough competitors hunting for their first National Finals Rodeo qualification includes Taycie Matthews, Ilyssa Riley and Paige Jones.
No. 1 Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, $188,920
Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi furthered her lead at No. 1 with a win at the Dodge City Roundup and the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo over the past week bringing in an additional $15,462. Tonozzi finished first place in the Average in Dodge City with 51.32 seconds on three head just before securing her lead in Castle Rock with a 17.12-second run. With just under $189,000 in earnings, Tonozzi has set herself up for a third NFR qualification.
No. 9 Sue Smith, $89,617
Sue Smith earned an astounding $46,855 over the span of two weeks as she reserved the No. 1 spot in Nampa, Ogden and Cheyenne. Smith jumped from No. 17 to No. 9 in the WPRA World Standings and is making moves towards a second trip to the Thomas and Mack.
No. 13 Wenda Johnson, $76,781
Wenda Johnson is a household name in the sport of rodeo with three NFR qualifications to her name and long list of accolades it is no surprise that she has positioned herself within the Top 15. Johnson secured the No. 2 spot with a run of 17.14 seconds at the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo as she picked up a check for $4,059. This addition to her total earnings landed her the No. 13 spot in the WPRA World Standings with $76,781.
