Big moves are happening in the barrel racing as Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi moves into the No. 1 spot while both Lisa Lockhart and Jessica Routier propel their way into the Top 10.
The Calgary Stampede, Sheridan WYO Rodeo and NFR Open have come to a close and big money was awarded to some of barrel racing most notable cowgirls.
No. 1 Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, $135,973
Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi has taken over the No. 1 spot in the WPRA Standings as the two-time World Champion has kept her momentum at full speed throughout the summer run. After Tonozzi’s record breaking run in Reno that earned her the Championship Title, she took her talent North of the boarder as she secured her first Calgary Stampede win. Tonozzi lead two of the three go-rounds in Pool C bringing her winnings to $16,000 ahead of Showdown Sunday. A 17.13-second run cinched Tonozzi the championship bronze in Alberta and a check for $50,000. With just under $136,000 in total earnings the cowgirl is on track to making her 17th trip to the Thomas and Mack.
No. 3 Lisa Lockhart, $98,156
Lisa Lockhart is now No. 3 in the World Standings with $98,156 in earnings after cinching the win at the Sheriday Wyo Rodeo with a run of 17.21 seconds to claim the lead and pull a check for $8,447. Lockhart also made her way to the pay window in Calgary as she won $18,500 in go-round money alone which secured her qualification into Championship Sunday where she crossed the eye at 17.38 seconds to claim the No. 2 spot on the leaderboard.
No. 10 Jessica Routier, $67,465
Jessica Routier swept the competition at the NFR Open in Colorado Springs as the cowgirl walked away with $24,553 in total earnings. Routier cinched the Average win with 34.70 seconds on two head and laid down the fastest run of both the Semifinals and Finals to walk away with the Championship Title. As she jumps twelve spots in the standings Routier now sits just inside the Top 10 with $67,465 in earnings.
