Abby Phillips’ Summer Run is off to the kind of start she dreamed of. Her and her equine partner that she calls Andi Anderson have been leaving their mark everywhere they go and this week’s success makes them your WPRA Athlete of the Week.
A $5,000 payday kicked it off when the two stopped the clock at 17.33 seconds in Alberta at the Sundre Pro Rodeo. This win came by slim margins as Jackie Ganter was hot on their heels, missing them by two-hundredths of a second.
At the Wainwright Stampede, Phillips would beat tough competition once again by just three-tenths of a second with a time of 17.30 seconds. This payday was over $6,000 to be the highest of the weekend for Phillips.
At the Guy Weadick Days in High River, Alberta, Phillips would wind up fifth in yet another fierce round of barrel racing. The Texas cowgirl is now the No. 3 ranked barrel racer in the World and eyeing what will be her first trip to the National Finals Rodeo.
She stays in Canada this week as Ponoka is up next for Phillips and Andi.
