Jess Pope has been one of the most consistent bareback riders in the world over the last three years and that continued at the Redding Rodeo. Pope went 86 points on Bridwell Pro Rodeo’s Ted to win the event.
After his ride, he mentioned how the big strong horses suit his style more.
“I like to get on bucking horses, not hoppers, those ones that whack you in the back, it really makes you try a little bit harder.”
Pope, who is No. 1 in the PRCA World Standings, earned $5,570 for the win and now leads No. 2 Clayton Biglow by about $45,000.
Orin Larsen was second with 85.5 points and Leighton Berry was third with 84.5.
