World Champion Clayton Biglow Qualifies for Eighth Straight NFR as Second-Ranked Bareback Rider

Clayton Biglow was undoubtedly one of the veteran bareback riders in 2023 that proved the rookies still have their work cut out for them.

The World Champion Bareback Rider is heading to his eighth National Finals Rodeo sitting No. 2 in the World.

Among the California cowboy’s accomplishments in 2023 include having the highest Average Score (83.69) and Go-Round Wins (21) of his career.

BIGGEST PAYDAYS

Puyallup Cinch Playoffs, $14,725

In Puyallup, Biglow won Performance 2 with an 88.5-point ride on Korkow Rodeo’s Coconut Jamboree after placing sixth in Performance 1. From there, he rode for 86.5 points in the Semifinals before splitting the win with fellow NFR cowboy Jayco Roper.

Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup, $11,306

At the inaugural Governor’s Cup in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Biglow split the Round 2 win after covering Brookman Rodeo’s SOS for 86.5 points. This ride alone was worth over $8,000 before he pulled another $2,500 check in the Semifinals.

Clovis Rodeo (California), $10,194

Biglow won a total of six rodeos in his home state and non were bigger than Clovis. He would make his way towards the pay window for a $10,000 check after going 87.5 points on She-La of C5 Rodeo’s to get the win.

HIGHEST MARKED RIDES

Canby Rodeo (Oregon), 90.5 Points

In Oregon, Biglow matched up with a top contender for Bareback Horse of the Year, Calgary Stampede’s Yippee Kibitz. When the whistle blew, it was a 90.5-point ride on top of the leaderboard that was worth almost $5,000. That same weekend, he also won the Moses Lake Round-Up (Washington) and Cassia County Fair and Rodeo (Idaho) to be named Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week.

Puyallup Cinch Playoffs, 91 Points

On top of being one of Biglow’s highest paydays of the season, the Cinch Playoffs in Puyallup was also home to his highest marked ride of the 2023 season. Coming in at a whopping 91 points on Calgary Stampede’s Blasting Sands, Biglow left a not so subtle reminder that he is one of the best with all of the top cowboys in the PRCA competing.

NOTABLE WINS

Golden Spike Rodeo, 85 Points

Biglow picked up another PRCA Playoff Series win the weekend after Canby with 85 points on Fire Man of Legacy Pro Rodeo. He also finished fourth at the Kitsap Stampede (Washington) that same weekend.

Cheyenne Frontier Days, 87.5 Points

At the Daddy of ‘Em All, Biglow would place fourth in the Qualifying Round to cinch his spot in the Semifinals where he would be 85.5 points. In the Finals, he would get on yet another Sankey Pro Rodeo and Phenom Genetics horse, Atomic Blonde, to tie for the win.
