Wilderness Circuit Finals Recap: Highlights, Results, Payouts

The Wilderness Circuit Finals Rodeo wrapped up on Saturday night, and the average leaders after three performances were crowned this year’s champions.

Among them was bareback rider Kaycee Feild, who earned his sixth WCFR title in his home state of Utah after winning the first two rounds and placing fourth in the third. Headed to the NFR in just a few weeks, Feild sees the circuit finals as good preparation and admits the win is a nice confidence boost.

“There’s a lot of good cowboys and horses here, and it’s the perfect time of year right before the NFR,” he told ProRodeo.com. “It’s fun to see your hard work pay off and gives you some last-minute motivation.”

The saddle bronc riding was also riddled with rodeo celebrities, most of them being of the last name Wright. Brothers Stetson, Rusty, and Ryder all competed in the bronc riding, along with Uncle Spencer — and as a family, they cleaned up. Stetson won the first round, Spencer the second, and Rusty the third with a beautiful 91-point ride on Powder River Rodeo’s Miss Valley. In total, the Wrights placed nine times in three performances, but in the end, Spencer came out on top, earning a high total of 259 points and the WCFR Saddle Bronc Riding Championship.

However, Stetson took home the most titles. The reigning All-Around World Champion also won all three rounds in the bull riding, and come Saturday, he took the winner’s circle twice as the WCFR Bull Riding and the All-Around Champion.

In the timed events, team ropers Quinn Kesler and Colby Siddoway won one and placed in two rounds to win the rodeo; MeKa Farr turned in the fastest time in the barrel racing and won the average; steer wrestler Shoop Stocking was on fire, winning two rounds and the title; and while Trampus Quarnberg turned in the fastest time of the rodeo with an 8.0, consistency paid off Clint Robinson who took the tie-down roping title.
