The top athletes from the West Coast Region will look to advance to The American Rodeo West Regional Finals, where competitors will lay it all on the line for a chance to earn their spot at rodeo’s crown jewel — The American Rodeo Championship Weekend.
With one regional qualifier remaining, attention turns to the standout athletes in the qualification system, each aiming to secure a place in Arlington and a share of the historic $2 million qualifier bonus.
Simply put: all paths lead to Arlington.
Each region features all eight rodeo disciplines. The semifinals include up to 125 athletes per event, made up of qualifier advancements, competitors ranked No. 6–20 in the 2025 PRCA/WPRA world standings (with five seeded per region), and a limited number of direct buy-ins.
The American Rodeo West Regional begins today. Fans can catch all the action on Cowboy+ as athletes compete in semifinal rounds Thursday and Friday, followed by the Regional Finals on Saturday, airing on FS2. The finals will showcase the top 10 athletes from the semifinals, along with three advancing from the Redemption Round. Both rounds take place in the same venue on consecutive days.
More than $540,000 in prize money is guaranteed at the regional level. In total, 27 athletes will leave the regional finals with $10,000 each before advancing to Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, on May 22–23.
Those who advance will go head-to-head with the sport’s elite, the top five finishers from the 2025 PRCA/WPRA world standings in each discipline. That group includes 10-time world champion Stetson Wright, bareback riding standout Rocker Steiner, two-time barrel racing world champion Kassie Mowry, and three-time tie-down roping world champion Riley Webb.
The stage is set for history to be made inside the home of the Texas Rangers.
So, who will answer the call in Las Vegas and punch their ticket to Globe Life Field?
With nearly all spots locked up, it will come down to one final qualifier in the heart of Sin City, featuring many of the sport’s toughest competitors and rising stars, all vying for a shot at the historic $2 million bonus.
Barrel racing will feature several previous NFR qualifiers, including Tayla Moeykens and Wenda Johnson, both looking to utilize their professional experience on one of rodeo’s biggest stages.
Following a historic Central Region breakaway roping showcase, all eyes will also be on the decorated breakaway field. The lineup includes 2025 NFBR qualifier and Nevada native Suzanne Williams, alongside fellow West Coast standout Braydee Bourdet, a youth phenom who recently captured the BFI Week Charlie 1 Horse All-Girl Breakaway Roping title.
Still in pursuit of qualification for the Championship Weekend is NFR tie-down roper Texan Dylan Hancock, who will compete against a deep field of accomplished West Coast cowboys.
Past American Rodeo champion Ty Erickson will look to secure his spot in the steer wrestling, facing a strong group of athletes aiming to join the already-qualified contenders from the Eastern and Central Regionals.
In the team roping, young guns Brady Tryan and Denton Dunning, along with the duo of Tyler Tryan and Nicky Northcott, will compete against a decorated field of veterans and rising stars.
Current Resistol Rookie of the Year race leader Daxtyn Feild will compete in Las Vegas, looking to continue his family’s storied legacy in the city.
In the saddle bronc riding, brothers Jesse Wright, Spencer Wright and Rusty Wright will each look to join their family at Globe Life Field on May 22–23.
Bull riding will also feature top PRCA and PBR athletes, including Josh Frost and Keyshawn Whitehorse.
As anticipation builds for the final of three regional qualifiers, athletes and fans alike will be watching closely to see who advances — and who moves one step closer to Arlington and a shot at rodeo history.
