Westyn Hughes is your Calgary Stampede Pool B Round 1 winner after a 7.1-second run to start off his trip to the Calgary Stampede with the fastest time in the tie-down roping of the entire rodeo.
For Hughes, it is simple once he is back into the box. Get the rope around the neck and attack. But getting there is not possible without his equine partner.
“He’s been really good, just consistent and honest. [I am] just fortunate to ride him here,” Hughes said.
With his simple game plan staying the same as the week goes on, Hughes’ success is inching him closer to the Top 3 in the PRCA World Standings.
