Louisiana’s Waylon Bourgeois saved his best work for Round 3 at the Calgary Stampede to keep everyone on their toes as the money was counted. With only three advancing from each pool this year, it came down to the wire in the bareback rider. Bourgeois’s 88-point ride aboard Calgary Stampede’s Expose Not secured his place.
“You know, I really didn’t know what that horse was, but I showed up and did my job. Everything played out to be,” Bourgeois said.
While Bourgeois only saw one video the night before of Expose Not, the horse was just what he needed. The Go-Round win brought Bourgeois’s total on three head to $12,875 and he is Showdown Sunday bound.
Cole Franks had a dominating performance in Pool A, including the first 90-point ride in the bareback riding, to end up No. 1 with $13,000 to his name. Young gun, Mason Stuller, claims the No. 3 spot thanks to a strong start with the Round 1 win and $12,500 racked up at the end of Round 3.
