The Washington State Fair Rodeo returned in Puyallup over the weekend with a total purse of more than $260,000.

Of all of those competing, the biggest winners were probably bull rider Boudreaux Campbell and steer wrestler Ty Erickson.

Campbell entered the weekend No. 16 in the PRCA World Standings and will assuredly jump into the Top 15 once the standings update after he won the Average and more than $7,200 total for the rodeo. Erickson was No. 12 coming in, but lead No. 15 Tristan Martin by only about $2,300. The $6,146 Erickson won in Puyallup should put him close to safety.

Other event winners included Rusty Wright in the saddle bronc, unranked tie-down roper Roger Nonella, Katie Pascoe in barrel racing, a three-way tie between Clint Laye, R.C. Landingham and Austin Foss in bareback riding and Cody Snow/Wesley Thorp in the team roping.

Every event included a Long Round with the top athletes in each event advancing to Sunday’s Short Round with the two-head Average winner being named the champion.
