Fan favorite Wade Sundell took the lead in Deadwood on night one of the Days of 76 rodeo with an 88-point ride on Burch Rodeo’s Bubble Bath — and he did with cracked ribs!
On how he was able to get it done with such an injury, he said, “Well it’s mind over matter when it comes to that stuff. You’ve just gotta block it out, do your job, and you can be sore afterwards.”
In his first full rodeo season back since incurring nearly fatal injuries at San Juan Capistrano in August 2019, Sundell is currently sitting No. 23 in the World Standings, less than $1,000 behind No. 22 man Jake Finlay. His plan for the rest of the season: “just keep pluckin’ away.”
