Ute Stampede: Top rides and runs from Night 2

The Ute Stampede in Nephi, Utah has completed two of its three performances. Here’s a look at some of the leaders of the rodeo, and the top athletes from Saturday.

Bareback Riding

No bareback rider was able to catch Jesse Pope last night, but 2019 Reserve World Champion Orin Larsen won the performance with 86 points to move into a tie for third with 18-year-old Jayco Roper.

Steer Wrestling

The bulldoggers had to have disappointed with their runs Thursday night as 7.4 was the fastest time. That didn’t take long to topple. A total of five steer wrestlers bested Kalane Anders’ time but the best belonged to the big, stout Ringo Robinson. Robinston stopped the clock at 4 seconds flat and is more than a half-second clear of second place.

Team Roping

On Thursday night, Casey Tew and Jared Fillmore set the arena record with a time of 4.7 seconds. Rogers/Bray and Richard/Buhler tied for the go-round win last night with 5.1.

Saddle Bronc Riding

In the saddle bronc riding, 2017 World Champion Ryder Wright kept the lead in the family with a ride of 87.5 points on Painted Rose. Ryder topped Thursday night’s go-round winner, his uncle and 2014 World Champion Spencer, who had 87.

Bull Riding

After seeing a half-dozen qualified rides on Thursday, only two were good enough to break into the Top 6, and one was good enough to go all the way to the top. Maverick Potter rode Flying U Rodeo’s Gin An Sin for 88.5 points.
