Update on Canadian Professional Rodeo Association

It was a brutal year for rodeo across the industry, and that included Canada as well with nearly every rodeo canceled for the 2020 season. The General Manager of The Canadian Professional Rodeo Association, Jeff Robson, joined Western Sports Round-Up to give an update on how close Canada is to getting rodeo back.

“We are working with the Chief Medical Officer trying to figure out where we go from here. They are lifting some restrictions and they are trying to work with us in terms of some capacity. Right now we are still in no fans at rodeos.”

Although they currently are not allowed to have fans, there is an end in sight Robson says.

“We are working for midsummer trying to get back to normal.”

The Medical Officer’s office laid out a timeline for fans that stated in late May 15% capacity to a maximum of 100 fans outdoors would be allowed. Moving towards late June, 50% seating capacity to a maximum of 500 fans outdoors and 15% of fans indoors. By late July there is hope the complete removal of capacity restrictions would take place.
