Casper, Wyoming is home to the College National Finals Rodeo and it is the University of Wyoming’s own Jacob Wang who leads the average in the steer wrestling after three go-rounds.
“I certainly can’t complain. Like you said, I was a little bit long in the first round. That was my own fault. I stubbed my toe, but then I bounced back. I won the second round and I made a good run on a tough steer in the third round,” Wang said.
The Montana-native is a fifth-generation cowboy who is following in the footsteps of his father, who was the 1990 National Champion in the steer wrestling at the CNFR.
“It’d sure be a pretty neat thing to do. Of course, I’d love to win a national title, but like you say it would be cool to win it decades after my dad has done it. It’d be pretty neat,” he said.
Wang has full confidence in his horsepower and hazer as he stays in the lead. A break until his next go gives Wang the opportunity to relax and cheer on his team as the CNFR carreis on.
