Lisa Lockhart won The Calgary Stampede in 2015 and 2019 and took a step toward adding a third in 2023 with a 17.580-second run to take Round 1 in Pool A.
It was her horse Levee’s first run at The Calgary Stampede.
“I don’t know if you’re ever prepared, I got in this morning and just tried to show him,” she said. “You gotta let it out there and see what happens.”
This year at The Calgary Stampede, there are three pools of 10 athletes battling for 12 total Semifinal spot in each event. Those moving onto the Semifinals are determined by total payoff over three rides/runs. Formerly, there were only two pools and each athlete would compete five times.
Lockhart and the rest of Pool A compete again on Saturday and Sunday afternoon at 3 PM ET on The Cowboy Channel and Cowboy Channel+.
