Tristen Hutchings sits inside the Top 3 in the World and after placing in two of three go rounds in Pool A of the Calgary Stampede, he is the No. 3 bull rider to advance to Showdown Sunday.
An 88.5 on Duane Kesler’s Alberta Prime Devil’s Advocate won Hutchings the first round before he bucked off in Round 2. It would be an 80-point ride in Round 3 that slipped him into the money for a second payday. His total on two became $8,750.
“You’ve just got to clean slate it, you know. I kind of drew a tough bull yesterday, had a lot of uphill, difficult bull, bucked me off. [I] can’t think about it today, I mean, all summer long it’s whoever can forget about yesterday and think about today... It’s whoever can take the ups and the downs and keep going,” Hutchings said.
JR Stratford capitalized with the only qualified ride in Round 2 to take all the ground money and bring his total to $29,500. He is the No. 1 cowboy advancing from Pool A, with Hayes Weight coming in No. 2, and Hutchings rounds out the Top 3.
