Trey Benton III Ties for the Lead in San Angelo After Rematch Goes His Way

Trey Benton III has taken over the lead at San Angelo Rodeo after a rematch with Stockyards Pro Rodeo’s Just Another Gangster went in the Texas cowboy’s favor. It was the fourth time that the two have gone head-to-head and it ended with an 88.5-point score on the board.

“He was awesome. I had to get even with him because I was one for three before drawing him today but I was 88 or 89 when I did ride him and Cory Melton with Stockyards brings a great set of bulls and just happy to be in San Angelo,” Benton said.

With three San Angelo Rodeo titles already to his name, the atmosphere in San Angelo keeps Benton coming back for more.

“You know, everybody calls it the little mini NFR and I believe so. Best stock, best guys and this is my spot,” he said.

This 88.5 tied Benton for the lead in the Long Round and with only six other qualified rides, it is looking like we will see him again in the Finals.
