Trey Benton III Talks Big Weekend at Bullnanza and Dixie National Rodeo

The seven-time NFR qualifier made two qualified rides last weekend, they were marked 92 and 88 points

As recently as Feb. 8, seven-time NFR bull rider Trey Benton III had not made $0 toward the 2024 PRCA World Standings.

That changed with a monster 92-point ride at Cord McCoy’s Bullnanza in Guthrie, Oklahoma to win the event and almost $15,000. Just like that, he was right back in the Top 20.

“I knew he was a great bull, my friend Dustin Boquet took him to 7.8 the night before, so that gave me a good idea of what he was going to be like,” Benton said of his matchup with Ridin’ Solo, a two-time PBR Bull of the Year. "(I’ve watched it) probably over 200 (times) now. It felt great.”

Benton III also noted that he was “warmed up” for Ridin’ Solo by riding for 88 points the night before at the Dixie National in Jackson, Mississippi. Heading into the second weekend of action there, he sits second.

“I knew he was going to be right there to the left, had a lot of middle to him, great draw, great bull, supposed to be easy money when it’s like that.”
