The No. 4 header and heeler in the PRCA World Standings made a little swing in the northwest that included picking up two wins and placing at another rodeo along the way. Jake Smith and Douglas Rich are your Timed Event Athletes of the Week.

Their first stop came in Utah at the Pony Express Rodeo. A blazing fast run of 4.2 seconds cinched Smith and Rich the win by over a full second with the next fastest time coming in at 5.3 seconds. This would be the duo’s first of two wins over the weekend.

A quick drive to the west coast landed Smith and Rich in Oregon where they carried their momentum from Utah to pick up the second win of the weekend. A 5.3-second run was fast enough to beat the competition and add $2,600 to Smith and Rich’s season earnings.

The No. 4 duo’s third and final payday came down the road at Sisters Rodeo. They stopped the clock at 5.8 seconds which was good enough for a sixth-place finish and a good chunk of change. Sisters Rodeo paid out $2,300 to Smith and Rich ending their weekend on a high.

Both Smith and Rich hold on to that No. 4 spot in the World with around $57,000 to each of their names. Smith is gunning for his first National Finals Rodeo qualification in 2024 while Rich is looking for a second trip to Las Vegas. A successful weekend has them one step closer and makes them your Timed Event Athletes of the Week.
