Shane Hanchey and his new horse Buggsy had gotten off to a rough start which continued during the Texas Swing. Entering the final week of April, Hanchey earned just over $12,000 and was sitting in the 40s in the PRCA World Standings.
That all changed with a dominant showing in Clovis. Something clearly clicked with Hanchey and Buggsy, as the two opened the rodeo at 8.5 seconds, followed that up with 9.0 seconds and 9.1 seconds. Those three runs set Hanchey up for the Final Round and all he needed to do was go 13 seconds or faster, which he did with a time of 11.8 seconds.
In total, Hanchey won $12,900, doubling his season earnings and jumping him from the mid-40s to No. 13 in the Tie-Down Roping World Standings.
On the year, Hanchey now has $27,266 earned in total as he heads to Guymon to compete this weekend.
