Tie-Down Roper Shad Mayfield Capitalizes in Sioux Falls to win Inaugural Governor’s Cup

Shad Mayfield picked up a Go-Round win early at the Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup to start it on a high note. He would go on to end on a high note with a championship worthy run of 7.3 seconds in the Four-Man Finals.

“My run worked out. Kincade made a great run. All glory to him also and glory to God. We’ve become real close here lately. I had a dear friend pass away a few days ago and I put it all to her. She watched over me and she was my angel here so this is awesome,” Mayfield said.

After a tough season without his main mount, Rampage, Mayfield added Harry to his roster of horsepower a month ago.

“He’s so awesome and easy. I’m very blessed to have him. I feel like God put him in my life at the right time,” Mayfeild said.

Mayfield ended the regular season with the inaugural Governor’s Cup win and is the No. 2 ranked tie-down roper heading into the National Finals Rodeo.
