The Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo is Geared Up for Another Successful Year

Executive Director Tommy Joe Lucia talks to Kennadee Riggs about what sets this rodeo apart from all of the others

The Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo Committee is excited to kick off another outstanding year of rodeo in Salt Lake City.

Although this rodeo is fairly new to the PRCA, joining just last year, it does not mean that this rodeo is short on fun, talent, or prize money.

Over $700,000 will be awarded to the winners in their respective events. Not only is there a lot of money up for grabs, but also very unique gold, silver, and bronze medals, a nod to the city’s Olympic history.

Another noteworthy bonus that this rodeo offers is the Pioneer Week Bonus, otherwise known as the Top Hand Award, in conjunction with the rodeos in Ogden and Spanish Forks, Utah. This is an extra $15,000 allotted to the cowboy and cowgirl who perform the best at each of these three rodeos combined.

“There’s a ton to do before you come, it’s really, it’s an experience. If you’re one of those people that travel to rodeos to check off your bucket list, like the Calgary Stampede or Houston, well you should put the Salt Lake City, Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo on it because this one will be memorable,” Lucia said.

Join them for five days of fantastic rodeo action as well as Pioneer Days festivities on July 19-20 and 22-24, or tune in on the Cowgirl Channel and Cowboy Channel+ App.
