The Second Annual Cody NesSmith Memorial Team Roping will take place on Sunday, May 29th at the Leon County Expo Center in Buffalo, Texas.
This Memorial Team Roping honors Cody NesSmith, a promising team roper who died at 23-years-old due to a rare form of bone cancer, while celebrating the great impact he made during his life.
While fighting Ewing’s Sarcoma, NesSmith befriended 2020 World Champion Header Colby Lovell.
“Cody NesSmith made me who I am,” Lovell said. “When I roped that steer in the 10th round (of the 2020 NFR) and I looked up and I hollered, it’s not for me. I wanted Cody NesSmith to hear me.”
The Cody NesSmith Foundation focuses on children who are battling cancer and other illnesses. This event will include a ranch rodeo, team roping, a church service and nightly entertainment.
